21 tenants for each home, as landlords plan to sell.
Chronic shortage in rentals
NRLA are warning of a "Chronic shortage of rental homes"
Despite "figures from Zoopla showing there are now 21 households competing for every property to rent", 19% of landlords across England and Wales sold homes over the previous 12 months. With a massive 41% of landlords saying they plan to sell at least some rental properties.
With the Chancellor's decision to increase the stamp duty levy on homes to let from 3% to 5, with immediate effect, only 6% of landlords said they would buy.
With only one in eight renters able to purchase a home in the area in which they currently live, according to Oxford Economics - for the vast majority of tenants, landlords selling properties spells bad news.
